Saturday Slump

I am in a funk this morning. Can't seem to get motivated to do much. I really just want to sit on the couch and read my book. As a result of this, this is what the kids have done so far this morning- NOTHING! I need to get them and myself moving so they don't watch T.V. all day. Also, notice the bag of Sweet Tart hearts by Alex. Good breakfast! Not winning any mom awards here today.

On a different note, look at Alex's rat nest in her hair this morning. I thought cutting it was supposed to take care of the tangles. It has only gotten worse. Do they still sell No More Tears spray?

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Jim will get home late tonight so we will have a nice Sunday. I need to throw out all of the candy in our house because Lent starts soon and I am giving up candy for it. My children will not be happy with me, but I just cannot have it in the house. No willpower. :)

Ahhh, right there with you. My husband is on a scout camp with my oldest. The other two children and I are sitting here in our pajamas, brownies for breakfast, one kid on the video games, one in front of the TV and me alternating between book and cat naps, until I get on the computer to waste more time. I am giving myself 20 more minutes then it is dishes, the gym and some fun!

Yikes, giving up candy, you are the willpower queen! Good luck!

I have to laugh because they were each watching their own little dvd's. Sometimes shorter hair is kinda a pain. I found when Taylor's hair was like ALex's I had to style it a lot. They do still sell that stuff because I have a bottle in my bathroom.

That is some major will power to give up candy for lent. Seriously??!! I gave up soda during lent once and lost 10 lbs. Can you believe that?? Hang in there only a few more hours. And I think you earned a free t.v. pass and book reading for the kids. Saturday's without hubbies are WAY long. Talk to you soon :)

Jen- Pretty pathetic huh (with the 2 tv's). I just wanted them both quiet for a minute. I just noticed I still have my V Day placemats out. i guess it's time to put those away now.

Falling even deeper into the Saturday slump! I got Jack and Q all dressed and ready to go, we were going to drive into the city and ride the light rail!

My car wouldn't start. Still wouldn't after Mike came home to help me jump it. It's only two years old! Now waiting for a tow truck. Dang Saturday slump! Glad it is a Sat. when Mike is home instead of a weekday when the kids have places to be though.

How did the second half of your day shape up?

Kelly- Not bad. My parents watched the kids so I could get a quick run in, Ryan has a friend over playing right now (not sure if that is good or bad; they have been a little needy), and for dinner we are going to a friends for pizza. So it's not too bad. Hope the car gets fixed. Cars are such a pain, but such a necessity.

Back again to say you are a Goddess! I was sitting out front waiting for the tow truck when your package arrived. What perfect timing, what a wonderful surprise! That was the most thoughtful and well timed treat. THANK YOU!!!!

Okay so I "you're" so welcome, not "your". I guess it has been a long time since I taught.

Bridget, I've found that No More Tears/Tangles (I can't remember which it's called) doesn't seem to work as well as it did when we were kids. (Kind of stinks, too.) I use a leave-in conditioner made by Ion, which you can get at Sally Beauty stores. Works much better, on wet OR dry hair! (And it smells pretty--the girls agree!) If they don't have Sally in Kearney, let me know & I'll get you some!

p.s. Or, I believe Nexus makes a nice detangler, too.

Let me take a bite of my candy before I comment :). I don't have a lot of treats in the house for this very reason. Oh and today I have been out all day running a myriad of errands, some my 5-year-old couldn't come for, some she didn't want to, and my husband has been working on our basement. So it's 6 p.m., she's in her pjs and just finished her 4th movie of the day. And I'm sure without supervision she has consummed much sugar today. Do I get the mother award today?

I am with you on the will power thing! I am too tempted by sweets too. Today I had too many - thanks to my daughters birthday and the yummy chocolate cake!

I have days like that too. I think we all do. I'm sure you'll be back in your groove in no time!

I hope that slump is over now! My boys have short hair and they still complain it hurts when I comb it.

Best of luck to you with your lent goal. I think it's admirable.
